Uncover Misunderstandings

By listening to our children we can uncover misunderstandings they might have. My granddaughter thought that a robot was a T-shirt because her “robot T-shirt” had pictures of a robot on the front. Then, she thought an astronaut was a robot probably because the picture of the astronaut’s helmet looked like a robot’s head. It’s really hard to explain to a two-year-old what a robot is unless you have a robot in your living room. It helps to remember that for a toddler almost every word is a new word. Words need a lot of experiences to go with them before they make sense.
